#33: Grandma the Historian
The person’s story about their great-grandmother’s clandestine interviews with veterans of the Napoleonic Wars is quite unique. It shows the dedication of his grandma as a historian and the invaluable historical treasure she left behind. Her manuscript, with first-hand accounts from survivors of Waterloo and even an aide-de-camp to General Castaños, provides a glimpse into a pivotal era in history.
It’s pretty amazing to find something so rich and historically valuable that your grandma has worked on. The family later donated her life’s work to the Imperial War Museum, which must have appreciated the kind donation. We can’t help but wonder why their grandma hid this incredible research from them – it’s something to take pride in.
