When it comes to adoption, some parents might choose not to disclose their child’s adoption to protect them from potential distress or confusion. They may believe that keeping this information hidden is in the child’s best interest, fearing that revealing the truth could disrupt their sense of identity or cause unnecessary stress.
We don’t know any better, but we’d like to think that most parents who keep something like this from their children have their child’s best interest in mind. Still, finding out something like this completely by chance – in your fifties – while cleaning your mother’s storage will be hard. It’s a world-shattering revelation.
