#50: Don’t Lie About Your Age
As kids, we’re taught that it’s impolite to ask a woman’s age, as age has long been associated with societal expectations and stereotypes. People, regardless of gender, sometimes choose to lie about their age, driven by the desire to align with youth-centric ideals or avoid potential biases tied to getting older.
Our storyteller’s grandma apparently lied about her age – to her own husband. It seems like something very big to hide from your partner, but it worked for her. She claimed to be six years younger than she actually was, that’s what it said on their marriage certificate, and her husband never doubted it.
