#7: Decades of Guilt
Veterans and those who have experienced war carry indelible memories of the harrowing sights they witnessed and the burden of actions they were compelled to take. These experiences often leave deep emotional scars, leading to a sense of guilt and moral turmoil that can last a lifetime.

This person’s grandpa had a unique way of dealing with his feelings and shame and guilt and the post trauma of WWII. Our storyteller’s best guess is that these portraits were his grandfather’s way of coping with his guilt and never allowing himself to forget these memories.
