#22: Vintage Food
It’s not uncommon for grandparents and individuals from older generations to have a penchant for preserving stocks of food in their homes. This practice often stems from a combination of factors, including frugality, a sense of self-sufficiency, and memories of times when resources were scarce. It’s a way of ensuring a safety net in case of emergencies or hard times.
This person wasn’t aware of their grandparents’ habit. When they passed away in 2006, while cleaning out their house, their family found food from the 70s. We’re not sure how they knew how old the food was – perhaps it was labeled with a sticker? Either way, we can’t help but wonder how their grandparents kept it hidden all those years – even if it was in sealed containers inside the fridge, couldn’t they smell it?
