#32: Kaylied Up
The term ‘kaylied up’ is an old slang term that used to mean ‘down to party’. How delightful! Originating in British English during the mid-20th century, ‘kaylied up’ conveyed a sense of readiness and enthusiasm for socializing and revelry. The term likely derived from ‘kaylied’, a colloquialism for being intoxicated or drunk, combined with ‘up’, indicating a state of heightened excitement.
Whether describing someone eager to hit the town or join in festivities, ‘kaylied up’ captured the exuberance and anticipation associated with letting loose and enjoying oneself. It’s really a shame this term isn’t prevalent in contemporary language; we would’ve totally used it if we’d known about it sooner!
