#28: Jollocks
Cause he’s a jollocks, good fella! The term ‘jollocks’ was used n past decades to describe a fat, hearty individual. Originating in informal English during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, ‘jollocks’ conveyed a sense of robustness and joviality, often associated with someone who enjoyed indulging in hearty meals and pleasures of life.
We can totally see that. The term likely derived from combining the word we all know, ‘jolly’, with another word we’re familiar with,’bollocks’, to emphasize the person’s larger-than-life demeanor and physical stature. While less common in contemporary language, ‘jollocks’ serves as an interesting reminder of historical attitudes towards body types and expressions used to describe them.
