#36: The First Star Wars
The Star Wars franchise is huge these days. It’s wild to think that one of our popular culture’s most expansive sci-fi universes all started with one movie. If you were lucky enough to own the original VHS of the first Star Wars movie, you own a truly valuable antique. This photo of the original VHS for the first Star Wars shows its original movie name.
Instead of Star Wars IV: A New Hope, it was simply called Star Wars. George Lucas probably did no know that his concept would become a huge, multi-million-dollar business. Interestingly, this original VHS tape is from 1982, a few years after the original Star Wars: A New Hope was released in theaters. This release features some edits and tweaks, making it a little different from what people saw live in theaters back in 1977.
