Unraveling the Enigma of the Baghdad Batteries
The Baghdad Battery, a mysterious artifact, consists of a terracotta pot with a copper cylinder and an iron rod inside. Believed to date back thousands of years, it’s speculated to have generated electricity using acidic liquids, like wine or vinegar.
In a 2005 experiment by Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters, ten replicas of the Baghdad Batteries produced four volts of electricity, enough for electroplating. However, there’s no evidence they were historically connected in a manner necessary for such applications.
