Discovered: 4-Millennia-Old Gold Cup in Kent
The Ringlemere Cup, a unique artifact from the Early Bronze Age, is crafted from a single gold sheet with intricate concentric designs, except for its riveted handle. A rare find, it’s one of only seven known examples in Northern Europe.
Unearthed in 2001 by a hobbyist with a metal detector, the British Museum acquired this precious cup for $520,000. Subsequent excavations revealed more Early Bronze Age artifacts, highlighting the area’s historical significance as a trading hub.
