Underwater Discovery of an Ancient Temple Near Naples
In April 2023, divers unearthed a Nabataean temple submerged under the Gulf of Pozzuoli near Naples, Italy. This incredible find features marble altars from the first century A.D., shedding light on ancient civilizations.
The Nabataeans, originally from the Arabian Peninsula, established a small settlement in Pozzuoli 2,000 years ago, creating the largest Roman Mediterranean commercial port. Despite its decline around 400 A.D., archaeologists continue to uncover evidence of its historically significant past.
