#36: Better Than Living with Regret
Most of us are very risk-averse. Unless you’re one of those people who just doesn’t seem to feel fear, like Alex Honnold free soloing El Capitan, I bet you often find yourself not going for the things you might want because there’s a risk that going for them could cause you mental, emotional, or even physical pain.
And certainly, it’s very good to be thoughtful and careful about things that could endanger us or others. But I think a lot of the things that we worry about in life aren’t nearly as risky as we imagine them to be. So what if you get turned down for a job you applied for or the cute boy isn’t interested or you fall off the first time you try skateboarding? I think the momentary discomfort is worth not living with lots of regrets later.
