Confession time: I am someone who enjoys the sound of my own voice. I am never afraid of public speaking because I enjoy making everyone listen to all of my ideas. And while I think a lot of people would disagree on the public speaking part, I think many would agree that they think they have great opinions that other people should listen to.

But if all you do is trumpet your own ideas and opinions all the time, you’re going to miss out on hearing great ideas and opinions from the people around you. It’s only when we learn to be silent that we are able to hear from other people.
