Does Not Compute
Back in the 80s and 90s, personal computers were the hot new piece of technology. They’d been around in professional and academic settings for a while, but it was when I was a kid that we collectively decided that these things were going to be useful and that, therefore, we ought to train children properly on them.
Like many other kids, I had computer literacy and typing classes in elementary and middle school back in the 90s. These days, a lot of schools have stopped teaching it because they assume that children are already computer literate. That’s crazy, of course; most kids these days are on phones, not computers, and they can’t type worth anything.
