Say Hello to Your Friends
To an elementary school child in the 1990s, there was nothing better than the book fair. I remember rushing home with the little two-page catalog of the latest books clutched in my hands, and my parents kindly always allowed me to purchase a couple for my collection.
My family owned hundreds of Boxcar Children books by the time we all graduated from elementary school. But it was the Babysitter’s Club that really seemed cool. The girls in the book seemed so grown up, earning their own money with their club. And I always really wanted to be like Claudia, with food hidden in various places around my bedroom. Man, those books were cool.
