While most Christmas wishlists are silly and light-hearted, there are some Christmas wishes that are just plain heartbreaking. This storyteller worked as a Snow Maiden while living in Russia. While the Snow Maiden isn’t Santa Claus, she is considered to be Santa’s granddaughter in Russia. So she’s believed to be just as powerful.

During her tenure as the Snow Maiden, she had one young kid in a wheelchair ask if he could walk again for Christmas. Talk about a tough, emotional request. Our storyteller didn’t know what to say. She didn’t have the power or medical skills to help this kid walk again. But she had to keep up the act without giving them false hope. That’s a fine line to walk.
