#7: There’s No Such Thing as Too Much Ice
Americans have a strong penchant for ice-cold beverages, and this preference is what often distinguishes them as tourists abroad. In many countries, the concept of filling a cup to the brim with ice is quite unusual. While ice can provide a refreshing touch, the American practice of overflowing cups with ice cubes can be seen as excessive and diluting the drink’s flavor.
It’s not as if people abroad don’t like ice in their soft drinks on a hot day, but filling your cup with chunks of ice is definitely an American thing. We’re not saying it’s a bad thing, and it’s probably mostly a matter of habit, but it’s something to think about.
