#35: Ming the Tiger
Some people take their love of animals a little too far. Ming was a tiger who was found living in a small Harlem apartment in 2003. Ming belonged to Antoine Yates, who also owned several other exotic animals. Ming was discovered after Yates went to the hospital with several mysterious bites. While in the hospital, neighbors began calling in reports of growling and a strange striped animal spotted in their neighbor’s apartment.
NYPD conducted an intense operation to get Ming safely out of the apartment. They were able to anesthetize Ming and eventually rehomed him at Noah’s Lost Ark Animal Sanctuary in Ohio. Regardless of Yates’ good intentions, it goes without saying that a wild tiger is not an appropriate pet. Thankfully, no one was hurt, and Ming was able to live the rest of his life in a more spacious environment.
