#10: Let It Snow
Things can get pretty chilly in Miami, Florida, during the winter. However, it never snows that far south. Or does it? January 19, 1977, remains the one and only time snow was ever recorded in Miami. This photo is from that momentous day. An ecstatic family is posed next to a car covered in snow. They knew how rare snow was in the area, so they commemorated the moment by writing the date on the snow-covered window.
Snow in Miami was definitely a weird occurrence. The weather dropped below freezing, causing snow to fall for a few short hours early in the morning. According to local weather reports, the snow was done by 9:30 am. It threw everything into chaos because locals weren’t used to that type of weather. Over 47 years later, snow has never fallen in the area again.
