#43: Sneaky Rebrands
Corporations are notorious for designing new packaging that gives customers less product than before. The new packaging is presented as a sleek, improved version of their old product. In reality, it’s usually a tiny bit smaller than the old design. The worst part? The “new and improved” packaging is sold for the same price, if not more, than the old version.
This redesigned orange juice bottle is sold for the same price as the classic cardboard carton. If you look closely, you’ll see that the new bottle contains about 100 mL less than the original packaging. Redesigning the classic cardboard carton was extremely unnecessary. Whenever you see an unnecessary rebrand like this, be wary and check the label. We guarantee there’s less product in there.
