#34: Pure* Packaging
This is a public service reminder always to be wary when you see an asterisk. Nothing good comes from an asterisk mark on a package. This dreaded punctuation mark usually indicates a big “but” is about to come your way. This package of sugar advertises itself as “pure* and hygienic.” Right away, we have so many questions.

What exactly is “hygienic” sugar, anyway? Besides that questionable word choice, you might have noticed the asterisk after the word “pure.” Let’s see what disclaimer is attached to that little dot. Oh, the word “pure” is only a name brand! This sugar isn’t pure at all. Apparently, companies can just slap any old word on a package and call it a day.
