#15: Pac-Man Inspired Cereal
In the vibrant ’80s, Pac-Man wasn’t just a game but a cultural phenomenon. Launched by Namco in 1980, this arcade classic instantly became a hit across the US, captivating both kids and adults with its simplicity and charm. Seeing an opportunity, General Mills capitalized on Pac-Man’s fame by introducing a colorful, Pac-Man-themed breakfast cereal. This marketing move proved to be a financial jackpot for the company, blending the worlds of gaming and breakfast unforgettably.

Labeled as a ‘crunchy sweetened corn cereal with marshmallow bits,’ this Pac-Man-inspired treat was an instant hit following its 1983 release. The cereal even received an update by introducing marshmallows shaped like Ms. Pac-Man to keep the excitement going. Health-wise, it wasn’t the best option, but did that matter to us? Not in the slightest. We adored it regardless, showing that sometimes, nostalgia and fun trump nutritional value.
