#7: Gollum (The Lord of the Rings)
Gollum, a treacherous and tragic character in The Lord of the Rings, has a haunting origin story. Originally a hobbit-like creature named Sméagol, his obsession with the One Ring consumed him after discovering it on the bottom of a lake during a fishing trip. Over centuries, the Ring warped his mind and body, transforming him into the twisted and creepy creature known as Gollum.

His emaciated frame, with pallid, hairless skin and large, luminous eyes, adds to his unsettling appearance. Gollum’s split personality, constantly arguing with himself in the voices of Sméagol and Gollum, reflects the Ring’s corrupting influence, making him one of the most intriguing and eerie characters in J.R.R. Tolkien’s enchanting world.
