#38: Vasco da Gama
Vasco da Gama was a Portuguese explorer who played a pivotal role in opening up the sea route to India. Despite his fame, he’s not particularly known for his physical appearance in historical accounts. Much of what we know about him focuses on his remarkable maritime achievements rather than his physical traits.
However, given the period he lived in during the late 15th and early 16th centuries, it’s assumed that he had the typical appearance of a European of that era. This would include fair to light skin, possibly brown hair, and a beard, which was a common fashion among men of his time.
