#38: Instant Replay
Fans love an instant replay. It’s so satisfying to see a slow-motion version of what you’re sure you just witnessed with your own two eyes. An instant replay is either very satisfying or extremely disappointing, depending on who you’re rooting for in any given game. Instant replay is a staple of college football today, but it wasn’t always around.
This high-tech technology made its debut in 1963. TV producer Tony Verna had been puzzling over how to instantly replay notable sports moments for years when he decided to try it out during an Army vs. Navy game. The game took place on December 7, 1963, and it took Verna’s team about 30 times during the live broadcast to air a successful instant replay.
