#36: Franklin Field
There are many notable football stadiums in the United States, but Franklin Field is something special. It belongs to the University of Pennsylvania and is the oldest college football stadium in the United States. Built in 1895, the stadium has an interesting history. The location was originally a potter’s field and has been rebuilt and renovated multiple times throughout its history.
Franklin Field also made history in 1922 when it broadcast the first radio football game. In the 1930s, the stadium was the location of the first televised football game. In addition to football, the university uses Franklin Field for lacrosse, track and field, and graduation ceremonies. Even if you’re not a big college football fan, the stadium is a pretty cool, historic thing to check out if you’re in the Philadelphia area.
