#3: The Heisman Trophy
The Heisman Trophy is famous. It’s the ultimate form of recognition that any college football player dreams of receiving. Every year, the award is given to the best college football player. It’s a pretty big deal. But what is the origin story of this famous trophy? Let’s find out.

The Heisman Trophy is named after John Heisman, a prominent college football coach and athletic director. Interestingly, the prize was originally intended to highlight the best college football player “east of the Mississippi.” We’re not sure what Heisman had against the rest of the country, but after his death in 1936, the award was soon expanded to include players west of the Mississippi.
