#47: It’s Who You Know
This is a truth that most people are better off accepting. More often than not, job opportunities are not about having the right skills but knowing the right people. You could be the most talented and qualified person in the room, but that might not get you as far as being friends with the CEO.
Sure, it doesn’t hurt to have the right skills, but that’s usually not all it takes to get the job. This applies to almost every job and any kind of opportunity. It’s a sad truth, and different kinds of opportunities in life. We hate admitting it, but that’s the way it is.
