#21: Unavoidable Obsolescence
I don’t agree with the opinion that some people hold that all corporations are, by virtue of being corporations, basically evil. But I definitely have to agree that they exist to make money and that some of them do things that aren’t great to make that money.
One of those things is planned obsolescence, which is when companies deliberately make products that are designed to fail after a few years so that you will have to buy a new one. It is super frustrating but can be very hard to avoid. If you find a company that doesn’t do that with their products, you grab on to them with both hands and never let go.
