#2: Lie to Me
From watching television and movies, I always assumed that lie detectors are a constant and vital part of police work—that just about any time the police were interrogating a suspect, they would hook them up to a machine and make sure they were telling the truth.
But there’s actually a lot of disagreement about how useful these contraptions really are. Some law enforcement agencies use them all the time, but other people feel that they actually can’t be relied on. If I ever commit a crime, I’m sure I will hope that the latter group is correct.
